Genkinno P1 in test: Powerful robot for the pool!
The Genkinno P1 pool robot is a smart device for the home pool to keep it clean from foreign particles and crystal clear. After all, in today's world, convenience and efficiency are becoming more and more important – manually cleaning the pool bottom with a scrubber is very time-consuming and nerve-racking at the same time. With an innovative design, a powerful 100-watt motor and easy handling via automatic mode or remote control, the pool vacuum cleaner should be able to convince.

In this review, we will take a closer look at all the functions of the robot, its suction performance, and the technical features of the Genkinno P1.
The Genkinno P1 comes in a large, white cardboard box. The interior is additionally protected by styrofoam on any sides. The package includes, in addition to the pool vacuuming robot itself, the remote control with 3x AA batteries, the charger and the (English-language) instruction manual.
At first glance, it is noticeable that the robot's chassis has been neatly finished and no sharp edges are visible. While the majority of the chassis has been covered mainly with white plastic on the front as well as the sides, the back is mainly grayish in color. Here, all the connectivity options are also present, such as the power button, the charging port, several LEDs and a switch to open the water filter.
Since the robot can move both forward and backward, there are soft rubber covers on any sides to avoid damaging the pool wall in case of a collision. Slopes in the pool can be handled by the robot vacuum up to 15 degrees. For easy insertion or extraction of the Genkinno P1, there is a cable that floats back and forth on the surface. The built-in motor works brushless and sucks up all particles on the underside of the Genkinno P1. For larger dirt particles, the suction power is automatically increased – this occurs, for example, with large leaves.
Genkinno has equipped the P1 with a smart algorithm to determine how to drive in the pool. To do this, the inertial navigation system is consulted in conjunction with the odometer system to determine the best route in the pool. However, we could not fully track the actual route taken in our own pool in the test. However, this is possibly due to the round pool as a test scenario, so that the behavior in square pools can be better recognized.
On top of that, the P1 has a 9,000 mAh battery, which can be recharged within just under 3 hours using the quick-charge function. A fully charged battery can power the Genkinno P1 for around 4 hours – but this is dependent due to the selected power mode. Nevertheless, you can completely clean a pool more than once with this duration. The robot vacuum is charged via the included power adapter, which signals via an LED whether the charging process is still running or has been completed in the meantime.
If the robot detects that the pool has been completely cleaned, the Genkinno P1 moves to the edge of the pool and simply pulls it out using the floating rope. The same function is also performed when the battery is low. In our opinion, this feature is a sensible extension and saves the suction robot from having to "fish" from the center of the pool. Both variants worked flawlessly during the test period.
The Genkinno P1 is run in automatic mode at startup by pressing a button. At this point, the robot runs fully automatically the bottom of the pool.
Another option would be to use the remote control included in the package. This can be used, for example, to control fine spots in the pool separately. The control is very similar to a controller from the gaming sector. In addition, the suction power of the Genkinno P1 can be controlled via a separate button, so that you can variably switch between a 25W mode and a powerful 70W mode.
Any leaves, sand, vermin, pet hair or other debris will collect in the robot's own container, which can be removed separately from the Genkinno P1 chassis. The filter can be removed from the water tank by pulling it out up the sides.
Now let's move on to the practical test and see if the Genkinno P1 can completely clean our pool in the test or if residue is still visible on the bottom. For our test, we have a round pool with a steel wall available. The pool height is approximately 120 cm with a diameter of 460 cm.
For commissioning, we started the pool vacuuming robot by pressing a button and let it into the pool. After a short time, the robot fills with water and sinks to the bottom. After that, the Genkinno P1 automatically starts working and slowly moves forward. The first particles are sucked up and disappear into the water tank of the robot.
Within 10 minutes, the pool of about 17m² was mostly cleaned so that the bottom was free of bugs, leaves or other particles. However, it should be noted at this point that despite the strong suction power, some particles were stirred up in advance and started to float in the pool. Consequently, this is due to the speed of the robot, as the Genkinno P1 can move quite quickly. However, the robot did not get stuck on the pool ladder compared to our alternative Steinbach Poolrunner Battery Basic, so no supervision is needed during the cleanup process.
After another 17 minutes of work completed, the robot's algorithm, with the help of the inertial navigation and odometer system, recognized that all surfaces in the pool had been vacuumed and came to a stop on the right side of the pool. The robot could be pulled out of the water via the rope on the surface. Moreover, there were no more dirt particles on the bottom of the pool.
Subsequently, it is necessary to clean the pool robot, that is, rinse out the water filter. To do this, we removed the container at the back and cleaned it completely with the help of a garden hose.
The Genkinno P1 pool robot (model type PC101) is an ideal choice when it comes to cleaning your home pool. The two suction modes are set sufficiently strong to effectively clean a pool for the most part, as well as suck in dirt, leaves, and other pool debris. Since the robot does not rely on specific surfaces, it can also be used for a variety of pool types. What also impressed us about the robot was that even hard-to-reach areas like the sand-filled slopes at the edge of the pool were free of dirt after cleaning.
From our point of view, there is only room for improvement in the choice of materials, as the plastic chassis does not look quite as high-quality. On the other hand, the remote control has been implemented very well and is almost like a toy car when used – definitely a plus in terms of fun factor!
As for the price, it is appropriately chosen considering the performance and efficiency. It should be noted here that people with a larger pool were rather selected as the target group. Should the in-house pool turn out to be noticeably smaller, there are of course cheaper pool robots in the segment up to 200 Euros. If you keep these points in mind, the Genkinno P1 is a reliable cleaning solution at a comparatively reasonable price below the 500€ mark.
