AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT 16 GB Drops To $610 US, 6800 XT 16 GB To $540 US To Tackle NVIDIA RTX 4070 12 GB Launch

AMD AIB partners have significantly dropped the prices of Radeon RX 6950 XT & RX 6900 XT cards ahead of NVIDIA's RTX 4070 retail launch.

The ASRock Phantom Gaming Radeon RX 6950 XT offers a full Navi 21 GPU and 16 GB GDDR6 memory. ASRock's Phantom Gaming Radeon RX 6950 XT offers its award-winning cooling system, striped axial fan, reinforced metal frame, and metal backplate. The graphics card runs relatively quietly at 0db.

AMD has not kept silent about its graphics card line offering higher memory capacities than its rivals and has been relatively affordable. The company posted a whole blog about how "More VRAM Matters" and now has 16 GB cards priced way lower than NVIDIA's 12 GB cards. There are differences between the two cards besides memory such as gaming performance, features & efficiency but if users want more VRAM, then AMD has the more cheaper options right now.

The AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT from ASRock (Phantom Gaming) is currently priced at $629.99 US at Newegg which with a limited-time promotional code ("VGAEXCAA496" at checkout) can drop down to just $609.99 US.

What you are receiving other than the graphics card is a digital code for the game The Last of Us Part 1 (a $60 value). The promo is only available from March 7, 2023, to May 13, 2023, but this is a great way to score a free game. Unfortunately, The Last of Us Part 1's PC port has dealt with a fair share of negative press for its poor optimization and transfer to PCs. Even with the developers working through optimizations and hotfixes, the game remains rated poorly on Steam's storefront.

Furthermore, the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT from ASRock (Phantom Gaming) is also priced at a stellar $540 US and also comes with a similar game bundled. The card also offers 16 GB VRAM, however, has a cut-down core configuration versus the 6950 XT.

Both cards should perform very decently against the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 in rasterization however, NVIDIA has a big lead in titles with ray tracing effects and there's also DLSS 3 which can boost performance to a whole new level. Plus, neither of the cards has the efficiency that the Ada Lovelace architecture has on offer in gaming. The GeForce RTX 4070 hits retail shelves in a few hours from now at an MSRP of $599 US.
