We test multi functional Dyson Hot+Cool air purifier to see if it's better than cheaper dupes

The cool setting is so effective and is helping for a better nights sleep during the warmer nights

Now I've tried many tricks, and it seems keeping cool around the house is proving much easier with the incredibly effective Dyson Hot + Cool Purifier.

As far as devices go, it's not the cheapest costing over £500 but once you take into consideration that this one machine works as an air purifier for hay fever season, can cool you down like an air conditioning unit, and can warm up a room in minutes during the winter it starts to make much more sense why there's a hefty price tag.

With an easy to use remote you can control how hot or cold your room gets, how strong the fan is and whether it rotates. It's recommended, if you want to take full advantage of the air purification, that you keep doors and windows closed to have full effect in the room.

I have had no issues doing this and found that I have the only room in the entire house that has managed to stay cool during warmer evenings. While the fan itself is huge and certainly becomes a staple in any room, I would say that it's even better than keeping all windows open because of the easy customisation and how close I can get.

Using the unit for air conditioning during the summer months to stay cool, unlike common air conditioning units, the Dyson Hot + Cool doesn't need you to have part of it leading outside which I find is much more efficient for space and makes it less of an eyesore.

One thing I love about this device is how versatile it is, it can be adjusted to suit my personal needs. It does use up a lot of energy, with my energy bill jumping from around £40 to over £100 in the summer when I have used it day and night- but this would only be an issue if I were to use it everyday. I am making do with just using it say once or twice a week and it's a great way to keep cool while I work from home.

For those who have the cash to spare, I would strongly recommend this fan which you can buy here directly from Dyson or from Currys with free next day delivery.

But, as always we like to try and get you the best value for money (especially while we are in a cost of living crisis- if I really couldn't afford such a product, here are some other brands with similar purifiers at a fraction of the price.
